Love
John 15:12
St. Valentine’s Day, every year, celebrating romance. Love, attachment, connection. Our marriages and relationships are under attack daily and we are all busy. In his book ‘Waking the Dead’, John Eldredge writes, “It works like this: hyenas cannot bring down a lion in its prime. What they do is run it and taunt it and wear it down to the point of exhaustion. Once they see it cannot defend itself, then they close in. The strategy of our Enemy in the age we live in now is busyness or driveness. Ask the people you know how things are going. Nine out of ten will answer something to the effect of ‘really busy’. The deadly scheme is this: keep them running. That way, they’ll never take care of their hearts. We’ll burn them out and take them out.” How do you protect your heart?
Agape love is choosing to love first. One definition of Agape Love is an ‘Unconditional love that is always giving and impossible to take or be a taker. It devotes total commitment to seek your highest best no matter how anyone may respond. This form of love is totally selfless and does not change whether the love given is returned or not.’ How do you define love?
